Balloon

The setup of the pictures above shows that Prof Mason used the fur to rub the balloon and once the fur has been
From the two pic above, Prof Mason is trying to let the balloon stick to the wall. It failed first time because it has not been rubbed enough. |
1. ball with fur and fur attract

Rubbed rubber with silk and fur, which both effected ballon sticking to the glass. |

Tape Interactions

Demonstration of positive and negatively charged tape. |
had to cooperate other groups for video due to technical difficulties
The two videos shows how opposite charged tape attract and same charged tape repel.
Electrical static Force Law

2 frame persecond representation of electrostatic forces visually |
The video above will be used for experimental data for calculation based on
E=KQ/r^2 equation.

Angle expression with Dx and L. |

Steps for electrical static forces calculations |
|
Computer generated value for r, A, and eqquation for the force over distance r. |
|
Because other E=KQ/r^2 only r is the variable and others are constant thus we have this shape. |
|
More steps shown here for force over distance r^2 derive from pixel count of the video experiment. |
Vander Graff applications of hair, franklin generator ,ribbon, plasma ball, and how Van Der Graff works.

Hair |
|
Franklin generator |
|
Flying ribbon(did not) |
This one fails because of the weight of ribbon is comparatively heavy and it has a relative thin plastic coating on it.
|
Plasma Glass balls |
Inside, there is a low pressurized gas that makes electrical charge shoot at low voltage.
Voltage is defined by the electrical pressure. The higher the pressure increases the distance it can push a spark. Furthermore, the sparks are at high frequency due to low pressure gas inside.
Below are two pic below for showing how Van Der Graff generator works. Rubbing electrons by a motor with a belt full of electrons and metal conducts the electrons outward through ground that generates a flow of electron.
